This virus and its’ threat consumed us in 2020 and it seems that we will be consumed in our New Year as well.

Our lives and the carefree way we lived it seemed to change in the blink of an eye. In the beginning, it seemed so unreal. I kept thinking to myself, this has to end soon; but as time went on that was not the case. Adjusting to the “new normal” is a work in progress. I watch the TV or movies and am reminded of what life was like prior to the pandemic - no masks, no social distancing and people showing affection towards one another. Now people are faced with the uncertainty of this virus; who will get it, how sick will they become, who will make it through without heartache, and who won’t? My family has been lucky enough to have made it until January 2021 before COVID hit us. We were some of the fortunate; the symptoms were very manageable and we all have recovered safely. Why do some seem to have an easier time and recover quickly while others lose their lives? I will have to leave that up to God since the experts seem to disagree. I have learned some things that I would like to share with you according to my experience with the Loudoun Health department. Even after you recover you can still test positive for COVID. If your symptoms have gotten better or are gone and you are past the 14 days of quarantine, you are not contagious. You cannot contract COVID for approximately three months. After the three months you can get the virus again so please be diligent with wearing your mask, washing your hands, limiting your exposure, and social distancing.
